Preparing your DGN file for Interplot Organizer

Interplot Organizer allows the designer to plot multiple design sheets with out having to open Microstation every time. By placing a shape on the D_Plot_Shape level inside Microstation (v2004), Interplot Organizer will plot whatever elements are inside it.

There are a few things to keep in mind when placing shapes:

  • The shape MUST be on D_Plot_Shape in order to plot automatically
  • It must be a simple shape (Type 6)
  • It can not be a complex shape (Type 14)
  • The plots are generated in the order the shapes are placed
  • Once a shape is placed you don't have to place it again
  • If you have multiple shapes in your drawing Iplot will only plot the first shape automatically. To plot multiple shapes you will need to submit them through Interplot Organizer.
  • No elements that are placed on the D_Plot_Shape level will be plotted. This includes the plot shape itself.
Instructions:
  1. Open the Microstation drawing that has the elements you want to plot.
    1. Make your Active Level is "D_Plot_Shape"
    2. Select the tool "Place Block"
    3. Screen capture of dialogue box

    4. Place the shape around the elements that you want plotted.
    5. The settings for the block should be as shown in the image below.
    6. Screen capture of dialogue box

  2. If you are placing the shape around a cell use the normal plot handles.
    1. Keep in mind that the plots will be submitted to Interplot Organizer in the order the shapes were placed.
  3. If you are placing a shape without plot handles and want it to scale, the dimensions are:
    • Metric 10:1   X = 417.322M   Y = 268.977M
    • Metric 20:1   X = 834.644M   Y = 537.954M
    • US_sft 10:1   X = 1642'-11.961''   Y = 1058'-11.555''
    • US_sft 20:1   X = 3285'-11.921"   Y = 2117'-11.109"
    1. Otherwise place the shape as needed.
  4. Place the plot shape in all the design files for your project. When you're finished you can send the design files to Interplot Organizer.
