How to add a plot queue

Go to Start - Settings - Printers and Faxes. In the list of printers you should see an icon that says Add Printer. It will look like Dialogue box double click on the icon.

On the Add Printer Wizard dialog box select "Next"

After you have doubled clicked on the server name it will expand to show the entire list of available plot queues assigned to this server. In this example we'll add the plot queue HP8000_1. Highlight the queue HP8000_1 and press the "Next" button.

Dialogue box

The next dialog box asks if you want this to be your default printer. Answer "No" to this question. Generally you want your default print queue to be a Print queue. A Print queue name looks very different from a plot queue name. A Print queue will look something like this:

PR_CaddRM_DJ800.OFFICE.WFL.FLHD.FHWA on FLHDW_TREE

If you want to learn more about Plot -vs- Print queues please refer to the FAQ, What are the differences between a print queue and a plot queue?

Dialogue box

The final box lists the name of the queue, it's location and any comments that have been added. Press the "Finish" button to complete the installation.

Dialogue box

If you have any difficulty when adding the plot queue please call the helpdesk at 7600.

Coping the set files for the plot queues
Once you have the plot queue you need the Interplot set file in order to make Iplot work correctly with the plot queue. Go to F:\V8_Resource\Set Files\FHFL17C6. Once there find the set file with the same name as the queue you just added and copy it to H:\Appinfo\Iplot\V8_Settings\. In most cases the set files will already be on your H:\ drive, you'll only need to copy them if they are not present on H:\Appinfo\Iplot\V8_Settings.
