Generate Existing Ground Profile - Traditional Method

The old (traditional) method for creating and storing existing ground profiles is still available (for now).

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • A horizontal alignment (Chain) stored in COGO.
  • A .TIN file.

Open a MicroStation 2D design file and type mdl load ex_prof in your MicroStation key-in browser as shown below and press Enter:

The Ground Profile dialog below will appear:

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Make sure that the "offset" is set to 0.
  • Also...it is suggested that you round the default "end station" down to the nearest integer to eliminate technical problems with storing the existing ground profile.   For example... an "end station" of 13+233.49 should be re-keyed in as 13+233!

When finished entering the information, press APPLY.   It is recommended that the "Intersect" method be used, to assure that none of the ground terrain breaks are missed.   When this routine is finished, the STORE dialog box will appear and ask you if you want to store the profile.   Click on YES.
